My li’l budding entomologist found this interesting critter in Tahoe. Any clue as to what it is? She’d love to know!

Whenever you take children to the wildlife refuge, you sure see a lot of butts. Theirs and every other critter you could have beautifully photographed, but they scared away.

Last week I photographed our cousins to commemorate their 2nd birthday. About twice a year they ask me to make them custom stationery to send to their friends and family- and this is this season’s set. How cute are these toddlers?! It’s always such an honor to be able to mark the special events in their lives with a little photo session!

Since it was a personal project, and not for sale, I used the free fonts Grinched and MTF Doodle to mimic the look of the twins favorite TV show and birthday party theme, Yo Gabba Gabba. The “logo” consists of the standard talk bubble photoshop shape with a hand drawn embellishment and ribbon. Easy peasy.

This is our Silkie rooster’s foot. Taken shortly before he tried that spur out on both my youngest daughter and myself. Glad it’s dull. He had never attacked before, but was mad that we separated him from the womenfolk temporarily. Won’t be doing that again, you live and you learn- as they say!

Yesterday we took our daughters to the annual Pick and Gather Organic Farm Festival at Riverdance Farms where we picked our own organic cherries and blueberries. And then we made these blueberry scones. And they were GOOD.

We are all very excited about the addition of Silkie Bantam babies to our flock! These little ones are just one day old now. We have seen 7 for sure, and we lost one overnight.. and I could see unhatched eggs under Mom. But we still don’t know for sure how many chicks have hatched successfully. We had 16 eggs at the time she started sitting them. Can’t wait until Momma starts parading them all around so we can get a closer look! Better pics to come when I’m not trying to shoot through a small coop opening so as not to disturb Marie & chickies!
